Why retrenched at 40?
Is it true that if you’re a lawyer you can’t get married?

ACP was a bloodbath this year, apparently the markers failed a lot of people pre- and post moderation. Didn't matter if you were from NUS, failure rate was high.
Be careful of wills and IP. Those also had high failure rates this and last batch
Mediation is no longer a touch and go subject. Paper was hard.
CBT idk.
I took none of these modules

Paralegal to Associate
Hi guys, would you recommend a NQ to accept a paralegal position with a US firm, with an option to possibly convert to an associate position 2 years into the role? Do international firms actually convert, or are they just paying lip service?

Very likely to be lip service, there is still a possibility, but don't forget if times are tough they will simply load you with work but never convert you. I would go in as a lateral. IT is not that difficult

Been offered this by some recruiters, but no offshore firm will ever guarantee conversion and I have not heard of of a local grad getting converted. Maybe do some dd on the firm's lawyer profiles if there was any assoc who started off as a paralegal in the firm.

Obviously AGC and MFA.
MAS and EDG are also options but in general govt agencies definitely favour STEM grads for non-legal roles. The myth that your LLB opens the doors to any industry is a blatant lie. Banks and MC firms don't like to hire LLB as well. If you aren't gonna be in the legal industry, your LLB is a piece of toilet paper.
