Yes. To the OP asking about family law.
The ^ quote is an accurate representation of what working in a family law firm will be like, esp this: "Doesnt matter if you represent the asshole husband. The most important thing is get paid."
As i said, go in with you eyes wide open.

How much do lawyers earn between 5-10 pqe?
assuming you're not from the big4 but a mid-sized firm.
curious about progression, thanks.

you're looking at around 7k.
Should try to negotiate for a cut of the files you handle instead. More worthwhile.

Apologies, i should have been more specific.
At PQE 5, you should be looking at around 7k.
After PQE 5, a lot depends on whether you make partner, whether you can bring in clients, whether you can nego a fee-sharing arrangement. There's a wide range of salaries from PQE 5-10 at mid-size firms.

Aim for commendation list. It’s coveted.
Especially if you can get three or four distinctions

Also depends on the total number of distinctions given in a year (which differs from year to year). In some years, getting 2 distinctions means you are ranked 10+ (jointly with others). In some years getting 2 distinctions means you are ranked 3rd or 4th (jointly with others) which sounds much better.
