Interested to know how many of you female lawyers remain unmarried at age 27, 30 and 35.
Seems quite a lot. And it’s always quite torturous at family gatherings.

Take it in your stride and tell the truth - your counterparts are incompetent/ you’re an introvert / it’s easier working than dating / income ceiling too low cannot buy hdb to get government grants in future / don’t like being in a commmitted rs/ got cheated on etc.

Shock them and they won’t ask again.

isnt 27 a bit young to get married? even 30 is only so-so.

nothing wrong with getting married later. this is not china or some third world Asian country. there shouldn't be any pressure to get married by 30.

Think what the poster meant was going steady at age 27, so that 3 years time meaning by aged 30 can get married

If you get married as a female at 30 already pretty late. To have the standard 2 children, basically have to have your first ASAP after marriage. Second at 33 is already late and may have issues giving birth at such an old age. Therefore first kid at 28/29 and second at 30/31 makes sense. Even earlier if you want 3 kids.

It may be late but as long as you’re working hard towards your own goals (career or not), there’s no need to feel the pressure complying to society’s impression of what the standards are. Make the opportunity cost worth it .... now back to the topic of this thread!

Working hard for career is stupid. Remember you’re NOT indispensable.
Lawyers are increasingly replaceable at ANY point in their careers.
Once you’re past the age of childbearing, that window is over.

Backing up with scientific evidence:

The risk of a baby having Down syndrome and other chromosomal abnormalities is also directly related to the level of “maturity” of the mother. The risk rises gradually with age, until age 35, and then the risk increases more rapidly. At age 35, the risk of Down syndrome is 1/350 – but by 45, the risk approaches 1/35.

To the workaholic mums and pops - if you wanna risk your kids' future with money, feel free to go ahead. Don't forget the older you have your kids, the less time you actually have with them. The large age gap doesn't help in understanding your kids as well.
