Default Changing TC

Hello would like to hear some views on reneging on a TC one has already accepted to take up a better TC offer. Is such a practice frowned upon? Or is it understandable considering the bad market?

As long as no contract was signed, i don't see why not?
Even if contract was signed, as long as damages are paid, it is perfectly legal.

trainees are super dispensable to a law firm, especially in this employer's market. what major loss will it cause them if one lowly trainee breaks TC?

Not #3634, but I've heard that trainees who break TCs are blacklisted across the domestic market? I wouldn't be surprised if this were true.

Default Legal service

Any (constructive) views on DPPs? If one has experience in conducting some complex trials and HC/CA appeals, is that transferrable to private sector?

Lol. It’s an employer’s market if you get cum laude and below or 2:2. Breaking TC would then mean you’re blacklisted.

But if you are FCH/summa with string of prizes, what’s stopping you? If TC Firm A can’t pay you well or offer your better opportunities, then go for TC Firm B.

This is not true. I know plenty of people in my batch (cum laude/low 2:1 and below) who broke their TCs and they're doing fine in practice and in switching firms.

Lol at some of the paranoia here.

U give the firm's way too much credit. BTW There's no such thing as a superb info sharing network across the firms working to blacklist TC breakers. Heck some of these HR departments can't even sort out their s**t within their own department.

The only thing you may be risking is pissing off the partner in whose team you are going, really. But if it's a bigger firm hiring by department as a pool, then you're just an unknown entity. Chill.
