Yes it will be difficult to go back into practice, not just because of employability by law firm (I have had seen my fair share of lawyers going back into practice as they left to work in other industries instead), but because once you go in house, you wont want to return into practice anymore, practice is much more stressful.
It depends on what you want to achieve and become. Going into practice in the first few years will probably make you more employable in the future. On the other hand, going in house, you can learn the ways of the trade and business, which will open other doors and career opportunities within the company (if you perform well).
If you are eventually going to go in house, might as well give it a shot to know what it is about.

When girls cry it’s okay. When guys cry they think we are weaklings

ya i'm a girl and i think i'm gonna break up with my boyfriend soon. went thru law school, bar exams, every step of the way together.. but now in practice, we barely text, when we do meet up, he's always stressed about work or checking his work email. never take care of his health - always smoking and drinking nowadays because "stress", when i nag him to do so, i get the "you just dont understand what im going through" treatment. all this for $5k a month? jokes.

Why do you care about what others say? Should you know what you want for yourself?
I made the switch to in house after 1-2 year and never looked back since.
For the same salary, why do I want to get my health and relationship suffered and worked much longer hours? I wouldn’t give up what I have now to go back practice.
Not sure if I am wrong but I noticed there aren’t many lawyers practicing after 4 year mark other than those who have been in industry for 10-20 years.

Can all you bloody trolls just shut it with your fake sob stories. They're not even funny or entertaining to read. If you wanna troll, at least be funny.
Stick to the plot and discuss salaries please.

I am a girl and I cried too. I won’t be surprised that guys also could break down too.
And no it is not weakling or what. The pressure is just too much for anyone to handle for a mere $2-3k salary. I had to give up so many things including a recent failed relationship of 4 years. We just distant apart very quickly. Always argue. Stopped having intimacy.
It is a joke sometimes when I see my partners in firm make so much yet I am paid so little.
