Not that much. Every year, at least 20-30 fresh grads go on to be investment bankers or buy side analysts and earn base salaries starting from 9.6k with bonuses of 2-4 months in bad years. Annual increments can be 2k. Their working hours are not that much longer compared to trainees or associates at big firms

Like u say 20-30 grads out of maybe 2,000 grads every year??
Law has 600+ Qualified lawyers a year (after part b), and how many get to earn that kind of big bucks? It’s v difficult this profession to go far. If you really get there your stars must have been very well aligned at each stage.

And out of those 20-30, how many stay on after the first few years?

If you’re in Corp reading enough annual reports, you do know that people without much education but are lucky to be born to rich parents, end up being directors of listed cos drawing millions a year

Note: these are just indicators to predict success. There are many other successful graduates without such indicators but go on to be very successful nonetheless. But these are key signposts that will be good to have (correlation).

1. First class Honours
2. Dean’s List (the more semesters the better)
3. Valedictorian
4. Stint as a JLC
5. Oxbridge degree
6. BCL/LLM from a top university (Ivy League + Oxbridge)
7. Being placed on the Order of Merit / SILE Commendation List for PLC / Part B of the Bar Exams
8. Starting out career in an international firm/magic circle

The more you have the greater chance of success.
Let's test this theory against the new JCs appointed.
Ang Cheng Hock - FCH, Valedictorian, JLC, Dean's List, LLM (ivy), TOP student in PLC. He has 7 out of 8 indicators. SC by 38, now JC of the SC.
Mavis Chionh - FCH, Oxford, JLC

Not sure what your reply had to do with mine, but you've raised an important point. The real lucky people are those born in the right family with everything served to them on a silver platter since day one. So I don't understand why all the admiration for lawyers or even investment bankers, considering that they're slogging away just to obtain a fraction of material wealth enjoyed by those who were born into money. 10k, 20k, 30k a month is good money, but it's nothing in the grand scheme of things if you have to work 100 hours a week to achieve that.

Hey, for you guys who are being bullied at work, please report to the ministry of manpower. Stop suffering in silence.

You are a lawyer and supposed to be fighting on the side of justice.

How could you guys just let such things happen to yourself and future generations of lawyers?

Workplace bullying should not be condoned and has no place in Singapore.
