I heard intl firms trainees train for 2 years... so say if I train + work at a local firm for 2 years and jump over to an intl firm does it mean I will be considered a 1st year assoc there instead of a 2nd year assoc?

Yes. But your chances of getting hired as a NQ are non-existent, and quite low as a 1PQE unless you are a FCH / Dean's lister / in a very reputable department.

How important is the training phase
Hi guys I secured a TC at a small firm doing corp work and i’m afraid that my learning experience there might be rather limited. I tried finding other TC’s but had no luck so far. Will it be very hard for me to secure an Assoc position at other firms if I don’t appear to have gained much experience in my training firm?

In general, it is never impossible but it will be a lot harder to move up from a smaller to a larger firm in corporate vs litigation.
If you are still in third year, work hard for these two semesters and try reapplying after y3 with better grades?
