If you trained with the firm, ur position is probably more secure as you prob already have a cachet of trust with the bosses for them to want to retain u in the first place. If you're a lateral hire you're a bit on shaky ground in this climate. You have to be shameless in soliciting for work esp with WFH. Out of sight means out of mind, and the partners will trim the low profile assoc first if they need to cut people
Hmm thanks for the advice. I think my firm is still fine. We are still hiring even at this time haha

Hell yeah, we Chinatown lawyers do make sure things are right whether it's billable or not.

There are big 4 lawyers who get things right at work but can also relax on an internet forum. Your sad sad tightass just isn’t aware of that.

Hi anyone has comments about the Dispute Resolution and/or the Finance and Projects team at Baker?
1. Are they hiring for Training Contracts?
2. What are they known for?
3. Any cautionary tales?
4. Am I better off elsewhere?

Thanks!

Baker disputes is a mediocre team carried by an international firm's name. It's an odd phenomenon as a tour on linkedin will show that most of their trainees did very well in their LLB (FCH or 2nd upper with prizes), but the training is notoriously bad. Likely the trainees knew this going in, but just wanted to be paid on the Baker salary scale.

Finance and projects is another thing. Reputed team, high profile work, very demanding but I have heard good things about bosses (i.e. tough but fair).

Join politics, easy $16,000/month job and millions more if minister grade. Criteria for minister level is not that high, just need to plp.

The training in disputes is non existent. The trainees join n stay on to have a good life. The good ones bave left. There was a huge exodus all taking place at around the same time.
