Whereas small firm, if you're in the office you're fighting fire, if you're not fighting fire you won't be in the office.

Depends. Some people in the small firm are quite nice and personable and it is also easier to work with them as there aren’t that many people in one team.

Nus gpa
Hi, NUS Kid here. Just wanted to inquire more about NUS CAP. Would having a GPA of 3.8 land you in the top 50th percentile? Further, any idea what percentile you are in if your GPA is 4.0 , 4.2 , 4.3 etc?

Yes, for 4.0 roughly 70th, with a CAP of 4.3 you are right on the border of 90th percentile.

Woah times change. Percentile-to-CAP benchmarks have changed that much?
Could I check what the equivalent banding is like for SMU nowadays? In terms of percentile. Have been seeing resumes ranging from 3.3 to 3.8 and was wondering if this is characteristic of the full range.

I know R&T has an appeals practice group do any other firms have an equivalent? Do they really only do appeals or is it more of a this is what we're known for but we do trials too? Is it considered more prestigious/high calibre to be in the appeals team or do people see it as simply different skill sets? I think US lawyers specialize along this appeals/trials line and there isn't really a prestige difference you could be a damned good trial attorney and wouldn't be passed on in favor of an appeals lawyer but that could be due to their presence of juries at the trial level

No. It is still quite sealed, although not an East-West Berlin structure in terms of work. Salary wise I hear some are on the international scale as they do international work
