"Cannot let my skills slip away doing nothing."

Do most lawyers really share this sentiment? I used to be in a firm where I was chilling most days and was paid pretty decently. I was happy there. I have since moved to another firm and even though I am paid more, work is complex and the pressure is intense. I don't feel happy. lol

Idk about u but I prefer not to have lawsoc complaints against me

Esp when I don't dictate the client/work fed to me, substantive law at least still can lawnet, some pts of procedure u fark up and lose time or kena costs, u see if ur boss defend u to client

Maybe corporate can copypaste clauses and opinions but no such luck for me

Hey everyone, does everyone know the payscale of the AGC as compared to the Big4.

Specifically, alot of seniors in the civil sector claim that their pay is not too different (or even exceeds the Big4 pay in total compensation in the first 3-5 years). Does anyone know if that is true?

What I've heard so far:
- I know the big4 progression will be approximately, 500 part b, 2k trainee, 5.8k NQ, 800-900 every following year till PQE4-5.
- I know that the AGC pays full salary for graduates during part b and TC (meaning 6 months additional salary compared to the 500 part b allowance and 2k trainee honorarium). But what is their pay for a 1st class degree, and what's the pay for a 2nd upper?

Is this accurate?

Also, is the bonus situation very different? I heard that the big4 tends to pay 2 months (on top of the frontloaded bonus) - is the 2months based on the frontloaded salary or the "actual" salary - ergo is it 4k*2 or 6k*2?

For the AGC, is the bonus really about 4months or has that been exaggerated? If anyone can help to create a chart of total compensation for AGC as compared to big4, it would be greatly appreciated!

I won't get into the numbers, but I think this is what you want to know:

If you're counting the total salary earned from the point of graduation, AGC DPP will make slightly more until the big 4 associate hits senior associate. The bonus is very substantial for AGC, but the big 4 salary bump at senior assoc is also quite a lot. Also, the number you have for the annual increment at big 4 is a little low. From senior assoc onwards, the big 4 assoc will make far more. But the work life balance at AGC is also ridiculously good.

It depends.

Are you "incapacitated" as defined under s.2, Women's Charter? If so, the court may, on your application, and on due proof that she had neglected or refused to provide reasonable maintenance to you, order her to pay you a monthly allowance or lump sum maintenance.

This was exactly what I wanted to know. Thank you! Just a follow up if you're still here, when you say senior assoc, do you mean that the AGC salary gets outpaced at 3PQE, or progressively from 3rd to 6th?

I mean the salary increases from 3PQE -> 4PQE, which is typically where an assoc makes senior associate. This increment is substantially more than previous increments.
