Im currently a year 2 student from NTU and my gpa is around 4.7 (Majoring in philosophy).

Im sure that with my grades i can get into NUS GLB or SMU JD however I am aspiring for more and it would be great if anyone could share experiences of anybody who got into Havard, Columbia or NYU JD! Based on my own limited research, I've noticed that the Singaporeans who went to Havard law JD took law as an undergraduate degree already. I' And if you do do you guys feel that I'd have even a puncher's chance of getting in. (Assuming that my lsat meets the requirement)

I'd also like to inquire about the oxbridge ba jurisprudence (senior status). SILE has one of its requirement that to register for the bar, the degree must not be "accelerated". The ba jurisprudence is 2 years as compared to the normal 3 years. Would it be considered as an accelerated degree?

Don’t be too sure you can get into smu jd or nus glb pls.

NUS GLB only takes in average 10 per cohort.

What’s the worst errand you’ve heard someone had to do. I’ve heard a trainee having to go to an embassy to collect a partners visa so he could go on a work trip. Another one was where a partner was overseas and apparently the house door was unlocked. The office assistants were worried the valuables would go missing and asked a trainee to go to the house to check if the door was locked. He didn’t actually have to go in the end.. and it wasn’t a direct instruction from the partnerbut pretty bad imho.

Yeah my friend was in the same shoe. His gf scolded him for complaining. Said with a law degree why can’t think straight.
can study but cannot react to real world situations. Said if unhappy just leave. Can’t be a relatively smart person can’t think straight on what to do next.

I was appalled. But more so humbled that someone out of the profession is able to see things with a different lens.

Anybody knows what is salary for big 4 fresh assoc and bonus?

I want to remain in law but the work hours are simply too long.

I am considering if it’s worthwhile to stay for the salary.

Too bad if you don’t believe. Not in the business of convincing others when I’m working at 1am, and just broke up with my bf also

trainees who don't know on whom the burden of proof deserve to be stuck at 2.8/mth
