Jesus, what's up with this thread, people make it sound like there is an either or choice between becoming a managing partner/cabinet minister/valedictorian or being condemned to live on the brink of starvation.

Young little lawyers or soon to be lawyers arguing small little stuff.
Just move on with life. Do what you like and like what you do. Life is short.

I don’t blame you for not knowing.
I am at 2 PQE. I can tell you that as long as boss likes you, you can have the worse work product and still get kept. If boss don’t like you, even anything you do will be sore eye to him/her.

Thank you. This I agree.
For nothing i just became an eyesore to the boss. i thought i could change her view of me by putting in more hours but that only got worse.
she even threatened as my supervisor not to sign my form.
very disappointed I must say. I did not make much mistake but always got picked on.
now today she’ll just told me i am not cut for lawyer career.
all the things I used to believe in since school work hard , dedicated , patient, loyalty. all goes into drain when you have a boss who just take you as a punching bag.

Hey are you the same poster previously that mentioned supervisor threatening not to sign or going to black mouth you in the industry?
Or nowadays all supervisors do the same thing?

Nvm bro. Every dog has its day.
Life deals ppl with different blows along the way.
Now you get put down, doesn’t mean your boss will have it smooth sailing.
Yeah she may have a career, but so what?
Without family, without friends, without loved ones.
Too many guys/girls want to chase career thinking it liberates them, but I have seen enough of life to tell you that nothing remains the same forever.
Even you talk about connections or wealth, I’m in restructuring and insolvency and I have seen first hand how some billionaires become bankrupt over night when crap happens.

Sometimes if you’re too good, for instance, say you have better results than your seniors, come from better schools (Oxbridge versus NUS), or have more publications under your belt - such factors can make you an eyesore as well.
