Saw that MB and JSM split in HK office. Quite a big split, with 120 lawyers moving to JSM.
Is this a good or bad thing for the SG office?

Quit Law school. It’s not worth it at all. Better get out now while you can. The profession is stressful and your hours don’t improve with age.
Get a proper skill like dentistry or medicine.

You can take your own advice. Just because you're a failure, it doesn't mean that you have to drag others down with you.

Is there any point in obtaining practicing certificate if I do not intend to practice law, apart from being a "real lawyer". Would the few years as a practice trainee/junior assoc have any realistic value to running a business (fortunate enough to have a family business) or should I just get involved early and learn directly on the job.

Since your mind is set, better to get involved earlier. You may as well get called as a Lawyer (NP) first if you've already finished/are taking Part B. Otherwise, practice training is not so useful.

Latest PTC guideline:
"During the 12-month practice training period, a practice trainee may be absent from practice training for up to 18 working days, for any reason such as firm closures, sick leave, annual leave, maternity leave or national service leave."
Does this mean a trainee is entitled to 18 offs on top of the public holidays, or is it already included in the 18 days?

"18 working days". Is public holiday a working day?
