Seems like Chinese law firms have been opening offices in Singapore. Hearsay more are coming. Any thoughts on the quality of their work and long term career prospects

Quality of work is pretty much irrelevant because they're only competing in the space for Chinese work

Latham and Sidley don't pay full Cravath scale to all associates. They pay mid-atlantic scale to start, which isn't quite "top of the market". Their overheads are therefore a little lower.

Nah. For both firms you have to justify getting paid Cravath - it isn't given from the get-go. For Latham I believe they tie it to the no. of years worked at the firm. For Sidley I think it may be a bit of a black box, I'm not sure.

Latham does a PQE reduction or non-assoc track first if you're not deemed as coming from a peer firm.
Sidley definitely not Cravath lol.

Sidley is definitely not Cravath. For Latham, what you say may apply to lateral hires, but people who got a TC and trained in the firm get Cravath pay from the get-go.
