How will this affect Theo Heng as the next bright leader of Baker M&A?

no one is disputing the pay. I think OP's question was directed towards exit options?

Pretty sure HSF is* an exit option lol (great pay, nice team, progression, focus on sg/asia, good industry focus, etc.)
how many big four ppl would kill to be there?
Also, pretty sure firms would be more willing to hire someone from HSF vs say someone from WongP.
They work regularly with int'l lawyers and teams on int'l deals, as compared to sg lawyers who work opposite such int'l lawyers.
Separately, a HSF lawyer will definitely stand out against a minimum of all of the jepalang big four/other sg firms fighting for the same place. It's hard even for those guys to stand out against their peers lol.

"I think people look at Baker a bit as a McFirm, like a Dentons...it does a decent amount of low margin, commoditized work and does not pay market in some offices...I would not say it is a particularly prestigious name."
"Baker is historically a Chicago firm but went with the Swiss Verein model and has transformed in a low stakes paper mill that sells itself as "international" because it's basically runs under a franchise model. Comparisons to Dentons aren't unjustified."

"Both [Bakers and Mayer Brown] are historically Chicago firms. Both are fine, but Mayer Brown is a step above Baker by a good amount both in Chicago and in the US. For perspective, it's in the solid upper mid-tier behind Kirkland Ellis and Sidley Austin, and maybe on par or a little worse in Chicago than the Chicago offices of non-Chicago firms like Skadden and Latham. ...

Would all of this apply to Singapore too?

Comment translated for the unordained: Wong & Leow >> PK Wong & Nair > Rodyk & Davidson??
Poster is probably from Baker, cos the reality is A&G, WongP, D&N and R&T beats them all.
