We (Trainees) are waiting on our firms, who are in turn waiting on SILE... to publish the official training guidelines.
Note that the consultation paper released by SILE regarding training arrangements was only just that - a consultation paper (saying things like we have 18 days leave, etc etc). But it needs to be confirmed by SILE in official guidelines for it to be taken seriously by the firms.
We are all waiting on SILE.

Hsf
Thoughts on the new training scheme by HSF? Is it comparable to those offered by the MC firms in SG and is this a good place to start if my goal is to lateral to a MC firm in future?

Take whatever you can get obviously. No brainer.
People like to s**t on HSF but every Big4 trainee or associate who's slogging it out underpaid and overworked will take a HSF role in a heartbeat.

Thoughts on HSF vs solid American firms? especially for energy work? (say the likes of Mayer Brown, K&L Gates, Hogan Lovells, to an extent BMWL) (c.f. elite firms like Latham, Milbank, W&C, etc.)

I think we all know how it's like to work with SG partners/counsels.
In contrast, how is it like working with American, English and Australian lawyers?
Would like to hear experiences (especially those from big 4 who transitioned to international firms)
Thanks!

Where there is a team defection, usually there is disagreement at the partners' level. Maybe they felt sidelined by HQ's plans for this region, maybe their profit sharing points kena cut etc who knows. I am just curious if Baker is gonna match their US pay scale for the defecting associates lol. Hard to justify such big differential pay difference among the associates if they do..
