Performance bonus for average performer estimated about 3 months, add to that mid and end year bonus applicable to all civil servants.
They do try to peg, but sector remuneration can seldom be roughly equivalent to private at lower levels. The attraction is that you will never have to find work for as long as you are willing to stay on in a career path which is stable but may get mundane over time. No need to learn business development skills to get promoted to higher paying grades as there will never be shortage of work coming to you (regardless of the state of the economy); no billing pressure which can be a relief as you progress to more senior levels; if I dare say, minimal time pressure to get back to your client; immense information resources at hand to do your work smoothly without spending hours on due d, applying for discovery etc; along with these tremendous information resources comes a level of respect attached to the office which an associate of equivalent PQE is unlikely to enjoy. You will never go hungry so to speak, much less or worry about book/billables, it’s a question of whether you want the challenge of learning how to fish or to spend your entire career having work fed to you.
Separately, there are posting opportunities to do varied legal work but whether and when you get the posting of your choice is another topic in itself.

Caveat - not commenting on the specific posting you asked about as I don’t know. But my personal view based on experience and hearsay is, be a bit skeptical when you see job opening on MyCareersFuture (MCF) that is not also on other job portals, or the posting appears much later than that on say LinkedIn.
Eg 1 - Sometime ago I applied to an international firm which had posting on MCF but curiously the opening was not on its own website. Understandably, there wasn’t even an acknowledgment. I later found out from online resources that due to the requirement for companies wishing to apply for EP or SP, they must advertise on MCF for a minimum time frame (think it’s 14 days), to show they have fairly considered Singaporeans.
Eg 2 - Recently I interviewed for an in house legal role at a multinational. They were quite transparent that some candidates were already far ahead in the process. Just a few days before they informed me an offer had been made to another candidate, a posting on MCF appeared. This was although the role had been advertised on LinkedIn for months prior. What does this tell you?
Think the above anecdotes is enough to provide an idea what the OP possibly mean by “pre-filled”. Sometimes the firm may already have a preferred candidate from one of its overseas offices or referral, and the MCF posting is mainly to meet Singapore requirements. This doesn’t mean they will never interview anyone other than the preferred candidate, but the question is whether you are being seriously considered or it’s for them to show they have attracted and fairly considered a range of qualified candidates. Personal view.

Never join disputes practices of top US firms. They are all sinking ships because disputes outside of US and London just isn't profitable enough to meet US firm expectations. When even partners quit, you know that there is no future.

By "have shipping law capacity", you mean basically peter doraisamy himself right?
It's a weird combo imo. If I were Hill Dics, I'd just offer PD an equity partnership and maybe offer roles for 1 or 2 of his associates/JPs who are more useful/experienced in shipping cases. Then PD can just close his shop and move his practice over. The rest of the randos in PDL can go find other places.

Wondering if advisable for fresh grad to apply to Legislation Division
Hi seniors, I’m a fresh local grad who recently applied to AGC’s Legislation Division. I already have a TC offer with the litigation department of a Big4 firm. I applied to the AGC because I have some passion for legislation drafting work and wish to earn a salary earlier than if I were to do the year-long TC. However, I wonder if my career would be stagnant if I do pursue this path - assuming of course I am accepted by the AGC. Any thoughts and/or advice is very much appreciated! Thank you!!

Define stagnant. If you plan on staying with AGC, then it is a career in itself. If you plan on moving to private practice, you’ll have to complete the TC eventually. In my mind, these are two separate career paths.
