What standards though?
If you compare the amount of SCs percentage-wise to the amount of KCs, they underpromote SCs.. in UK top 10% or so of barristers are KCs. If you base off this standard - as long as you top 10% you should be SC liao.

i think all those SCs and judges from AGC also quite cui. their promotion is based on their unquestioning loyalty to the state and not on advocacy

The fanboying of SCs in general amongst the less informed folks or more impressionable law students and junior lawyers needs to stop.
Many of these SCs are not particularly impressive and got the rank because they've got good connections or happened to be lucky.
Practising litigators aren't impressed by them. But it serves the purpose la, to wow the uninformed layman and impressionable young lawyers
