Try to give them cancer. Two years and they wont bother you any more.

Hi All,
I would like to get some advise from everyone here about being bullied by my seniors. I am about to be called to the Bar in August.
My partners don't really care about such bullying or they don't know. It seems like once billable targets are hit , that is all that matters.
The work nature itself is stressful enough, why must the people in my department make life even more difficult?
Any advice on what to do next?

Two options. First, resign. Change industry.
Second, fight back. Play politics until the bully leaves.
But yes that’s tough unless you have some magical connection. If that’s the case, you won’t be bullied in the first place.
Too many students are doing law thinking they will all end up as lawyers. That’s far from the truth. At most 10-20% of a law batch will still be doing law by the time they are 50, assuming they are lawyers at 26 for guys, 24 for girls.
Many change track along the way because of circumstances

"10-20% will still be doing law by the time they are 50" is a very different proposition from your statement that most law students do law thinking they will end up as lawyers.
There's nothing wrong with changing careers to do other things. I would argue the industry is stronger with a constant renewal of new practitioners. In fact, from an economics POV, we would have a major problem if every single freshly minted lawyer decided to stay in practice until 50.
Barack and Michelle Obama also started out as lawyers. Would you say that their eventual path made them worse off than if they had remained as lawyers?
Also, would you consider an inhouse counsel job practicing law as well? The vast majority of my friends who have left private practice went inhouse. They did not cease being a lawyer entirely.

In house is not lawyering.
Lawyering means holding a pc and practising law in a firm

Many boomer partners are dying these days. R&T had a few quietly go under the radar. Good opportunity for younger ones to step up and make equity.
