Easiest one, boss talks to you about whether you want to continue working there or includes you in plans past your TC period.

Oxford BCL requires ppl to be in top 1-3% or prize winners for those in the top 4-5%.
With 10% nus getting fch now, the situation is a lot more competitive. And scholarship doesn’t need to be from Oxford direct. It can be from other places, such as scholarship for top alumni from smu, etc

Some people prefer better work-life balance in return for less pay/prestige. It's just different priorities; doesn't mean they cmi in practice. You could be a really good lawyer and could easily make EP in a top firm and still decide to go in-house for lifestyle reasons.

It's OK la. I'm an in-houser and fine with all this 'cmi' labels really. Speaking of which, last week I literally just threw stuff for our Big 4 team to do over the Hari Raya weekend which they of course obliged and delivered on Tues AM. Or rather the partner obliged and the juniors did the work.
Cmi or loser at the end of the day , these are really just labels. The only issue is whether it sits well with ur ego and pride. I get to end work on the dot at 5.30-6pm and rarely overtime if at all. Weekends are virtually untouched. I really can't envisage back to private practice lifestyle unless forced by circumstances.

I'm the OP. Nah you misinterpret. It's not meant to be bragging. That statement was made to show how I can't go back to that kind of weekend-burnt lifestyle and schedule.
What you wanna think of it, is up to you.
But if the first notion that came to your mind is that my statement was meant to brag about "tekaning" and putting down pvt practice lawyers, I guess that's really quite symptomatic of how many ppl who're still in pvt practice behave/think. There's a lot of ego tripping & chasing prestige in pvt practice. Those of us who don't care much about such things, have removed ourselves from it.
Find what works for your career / goals n stop relying on the validations of others.

If you suffered weekend burnt lifestyle then why are you making people suffer now when you can control it?
