Nothing complicated. Very straightforward story.

Associate involved in a trial. A document was filed on e-liti but not served. It was assoc's responsibility to ensure. Opponent obviously objected and/or claimed that it was not received. Document not admitted.

SC told the associate he/she need not return to the office.

Happened in a big 4 firm.

Even if gratuitous, a qualified lawyer has to send the documents correctly.
Bound by professional rules not a salary.

Yah lol, this one is negligence enough to breach PCR liao. Firing might even have been to appease the client and get him to not report to law soc

just an observation: this is not correct. filing a document on eLitigation doesn't necessarily mean it will be served, much less immediately. The party filing the document has the option of serving, but will be charged $2 for each party it is served on.

Methinks you are the one who doesn't liti. Bet you don't even know there's a "service upon acceptance of filing" option on e-liti. Lol.
