true. i guess that's the price one has to be for being inherently racist towards our friends from the minority races for so many years without flinching or stopping to ponder how the person on the receiving end of those racial remarks might feel. Karma is a biatch. What comes around goes around.

i don't think it should be revealed to people here that in UK some of the lower ranked unis actually tell students what exam question will be asked in the actual exams itself. i also don't think that it should be revealed to people here that people of a certain race are often attacked verbally or physically in the UK. I also think that it should be revealed to people here how its alleged that many singaporeans students behave in UK or are perceived to be. let these people here experience it for themselves. many of them don't have the means to travel to UK to study let alone take a holiday. let them experience it for themselves. then only they will wake up and smell the teh c peng. majority of the singaporean student studying overseas mentality has always been to leech off others for knowledge while keeping what they know to themselves, to hurl racial abuse at other races and the list is never ending. let them learn the hardway. it's part of life.

Any insights on any culture and pay of this firm?

Thanks in advance!

That lawyer does exclusively criminal defence work. There's a family practice group within that firm though. as far as i know, tc applications have closed for 2017 and 2018.

Sorry to butt in ...... Only 3K? Is there bonus? Is it reflective of the general market rate in the smaller firms?

From my experience, the starting salaries of firms are as follows:
Genuine international firms: >10k
Big 4: 4.5 - 5.5k
Mid-big firms and 'fake' international firms (i.e. local firms which simply adopted the name of a foreign firm but still retain the same salary structure: 4 - 5k
Small-mid firms: 3.5 - 4.5k
Small firms: 3 - 4k

im looking at international law firms. the good thing is that i don't behave and think like the typical average applicant. will the international firm pick me over someone who thinks the same sound the same as everyone else they interview? i also speak and write well. will this help too?

Being in an international firm, I can tell you that they generally don't hire low PQEs (i.e. < 3 PQE, unless you are very exceptional). The starting salary of >10k is true, but please take into account the PQE required.

This is from my recent experience based on ~3 PQE.

International firms: 10-15k
Big 5/Boutique: 7-9k
In-house: 5-10k

Unless you are exceptional (in terms of education, experience and/or skills), it does not matter whether you 'behave and think like the typical average applicant'. I will be very skeptical if you are too polished, having seen in my career many such applicants who do not have much substance. From what you typed here, you sound very arrogant. That is not an attribute firms are keen to have in its lawyers.
