I can bet my arse you will never get a proper response from that person who claimed that “more than half of the 2019 call batch left for international firms last year”..
The discussion will turn into “ NUS is the best” or “delisted unis suck but they can get better MC jobs than NUS/ SMU grads” or “Oxbridge is not as good as you think”

Because MC law firms, being international, don't care about muh NUS 'prestige' (of which there exists none outside SG) and would rather hire graduates from UK universities they are already familiar with back home.
That's why you see lots of non-Oxbridge UK grads in MC. Some from delisted unis like Manchester and Sheffield as well.

Do you really read English? Have you seen the QS world rankings? NUS tops all of these schools.

He's not gonna name them for you because he's not gonna be a moron and doxx people on a public forum.
You can easily find this info on linkedin. It's also well known that WP and AG corp gets rekt end of every year

Obviously you don’t know what constitutes “doxxing”. & to claim that this can be easily found on linkedin assumes we even know who these 1+ pqe lawyers are

Favour cannot eat. 2 years earning MC, mid atlantic or cravath already better than 2 years as associate or senior associate in big 4. Different strokes for different folks. You want to be business owner asap stay in local firm become partner make it rain. You want high paying job and better recognition for in house roles go international.
That’s even before refuting the argument that local lawyers cannot thrive in international firms. Its not even about work ethic. Singaporeans in general are already more studious and hardworking than most foreign talent. Its about working smart and being able to build relationships with colleagues and clients from different backgrounds, countries, races etc. Many have thrived and many will continue to. You just need the awareness and humility to learn and recognise that Singapore is but a small cog in the global machinery of commerce.

Seriously, what's with all this school bashing and promoting?
No one gives a damn. I find it funny sometimes, especially when you are trolling (so by all means if you are not serious, keep going), but a serious conversation? Come on, trolling is acceptable, serious argument is not.
You come to an anonymous forum to make the argument that X is higher ranked than Y therefore X will likely outperform Y.
I'm sure if you said it without the veil of anonymity you will be buried and then stoned alive by the woke generation. Look at the public umbrage at the umbrage guy. Poor Cambridge general who was just making a point that the journalist shouldn't question SPH's integrity. If you want to express your views to your close friends in the comfort of your living room, fine. But say it publicly and no one will take you seriously.
I don't care about whether school Y or X has more partners or MC lawyers (if that is your definition of success). The fact that people have made it from school Y does not mean you will make it. The fact that you are from school X gives you no entitlement or presumption in favour of your success.
Both ways, you will have to hustle.
You can be from school Y and be an equity partner. You can be from school X and a SA for life.
Please, stop it with the school bashing/promoting. This forum is full of trainees or recent law school graduates who think they are better than everyone else.
I hope the moderator deletes this thread, and the rot that belies it.
