I think best advice for that person is to not give a number when asked for expected salary, or not you might risk lowballing yourself if you don't know the market rate.

4.2k is senior pay.
You should join other company then.
All this fresh grad expecting high pay bit have ZERO skill sets.
Ask to produce work. Work like student. Just watch video tutorial month after month.
Work = produce something that can create value for company (money)
Fresh grad think their degree classification entitled them with high pay.
Dream on la. You are nothing special.
Next years fresh grad will earn 5.8k and you are nothing.
So is next next year.
And next next next year.
All fresh grad are disillusioned.
You will be nothing after 1year.
Dont think you're special

Just trying to get some info because I don't know how ST works.
Some of my background: Currently a Senior Engineer 2 with a European plant with experience from product designing and quality. 12 year combined experience in pharmaceutical and semicon worked in 4 companies, leading my own section now. Thinking of changing jobs to somewhere with automotives exposure to expand my portfolio, diploma in electronic engineering with 6 sigma greenbelt, PMP and CQE, I have internal auditor certificate for ISO13485. Applying for another senior engineer role in ST.
Spoke to someone from ST I know and I was told that I won't get the kind of salary I am getting at my current job and will only be offered E4 even though I am E6 or M1 equivalent now. What is E4/E6/M1? I am drawing slightly above 6K with up to 2 months variable bonus. Is this too high for a senior engineer role in ST?
