is the annual pay incremental huge? then why do people start at big4 but not stay? Is it coz cannot get in other consultancy firms? Please advise what to expect if i were to join... thanks!

The big 4 increase is already very good, just that in consulting there is so much exposure that good people are constantly being poached by ex-clients or other prestigious consultancies.
A lot of big mncs and banks can throw money once they spot a good consultant and its hard for big 4 to match.

The work-life balance is terrible, even as a consultant and not an auditor. However, the exposure and career progression is great, your skills will be pretty much in demand throughout the finance industry.

I'm comparing to other boutique consulting firms.. their pay are way better than audit firm's consultancy.. will the job be similar? since there is such discrepancy in pay

Salary scale isn't very much different from the other Big 4 lines, maybe just a little higher bonus (esp now that advisory is becoming a larger and larger revenue generator for Big 4). Work-life balance is just as crappy (but also depends on project nature).

may i know why is the career path better than typical bank officer? how does the trajectory look like? is it moving forward to other consulting firms or are there chances of other career paths like in banking sector?

Unless you have a proven track record or have a stellar educational background, you can forget about getting into the well-regarded boutique consultancies.
