Big4 Tax Career Prospect

Going to start under Big4 corporate tax, well aware of the comparatively low pay and work-life balance. That being said, I'm very interested and like tax while I was interning and studying. For now, got no qualms with it.

I'm more concerned about 5-10 years down the road. I know and read of other paths like IRAS and MNC tax roles and responsibilities and I'm quite sure that my skillset by then can manage.

Anyone knows if tax specialists are desirable and what kind of careers are out there apart from what I mentioned? Or generally what I can do now to improve my eligibility for the long-run?

In order to move into MNC tax roles, you need to reach specialist level. Otherwise a lot tax functions are now being offshored or outsourced. Try to stay in the consulting space for at least 8-10 years with a specific tax niche before moving to corporate side.

If you jump ship within few years, you are likely just going to end up as some low level tax operations job on the corporate side which is very dangerous.
