Haha. I always find it funny when come to talk about CEO and MD, everyone so easy say $10m or $350k. Then when come to talk about something closer to the average banker - $100k - every one keep quiet because then they realize that yeah, actually SVP / MD at local bank don't earn relatively as much as the bulge bracket.
My take. Correct me if I'm wrong, there's a difference between DBS / UOB / OCBC and the MNC banks. MD at DBS, I will ball park $25k a month base or $300k a year. In Wall Street, as in New York, then you can triple that.

Who cares whether MD is making $1mil or more? I doubt anyone hanging around online salary forums is close to smelling that level, let's concentrate more on junior level jobs that are more relevant.

How the rank goes 1 to 5 or 5 to 1.

hi, I came across this thread 2 years ago when I joined UOB as a VP1, after 16 years of working in non-bank sector, and two brief stincts with OCBC(as Assistant Manager) and DBS (as AVP)
Now i'm in a foreign bank with higher pay, i feel the need to comment on the misconceptions put forth in this thread's earlier postings.
First, the comparison of DBS CEO compensation package is wrong. Gupta is Group CEO that is based in Singapore, with a worldwide coverage. There are country CEO appointment holders, and within the local country there are then management... So these outrage gap that is mentioned is manifested because people compare the Worldwide Head salary with a single level's functional head. Like compare USA president with a local county sherrif pay gap
Second, career progression varies between frontline and non-frontline, so not fair to compare a Technology or Operations guy with sale guy progression. Again, DBS CEO is exception, he started as Citibank management trainee in Operations/Technology and moved to become China Citi Country CEO before headhunted to DBS as Worldwide CEO... how many backoffice guys can say they have ability to become country head?
