Remember that some SMU students have rich fathers. And once they grad, they join father's business as a manager or a director.
So SGD10k is possible.
Why then is the average low?
Some who chose to be private tutors can dont declare salary. And those who went to further studies are not earning anything.
Forget the extremes.
Life is like bowling, just play your best and you can score. Doesn't mean he get SGD10k you cannot.
Be motivated, take it as, if he can earn SGD10k, I can too. Go get it!

DT, great sayings..
I am really wondering which company is doing their sums so wrongly that they pay out 10k to a fresh grad.?
Well, it could happen if that these fresh grads are actually experience managers whom had worked many years in their field and now going into SMU for upgrading degree courses and of course, when they graduated with their new degree course, they are considered fresh grads and at the same time, getting a pay rise above their present wage. That is one possible permutations and not to mention further permutations.

hey hey i am from SMU man!
haha not all of us have rich daddies please! and seriously, we are being misunderstood!
I think the high pay structure is due to the courses we take and the type of jobs!
1. Law students - obviously attract high pays
2. business students - these business students' with high salaries go to banks. i have friends with staying pay of 3.7k and 3.8k.
GIC does provide quite a high pay - i have heard of seniors getting 8k!
3. Information systems - a lot of friends provide consulting services too. and quite profitable!
please don't insult our school when you don't know our school structures and classes. Thinking that we are all about marketing. If you really want to know and understand, sign up for a class and see for yourself It would be really unfair to the students who really puts our hearts to learning to be saying that we are in a school of rich kids when most of us are 'commoners' and heartlanders too!
and seriously, the rich daddy thing? i know of a lot of smu kids have rich daddies but hey hey, i seriously dont see many of my friends entering their rich daddies' companies!

The recent chinese papers interviewed some beer ladies. They earn more than $2k a month including commissions. Sorry no offense intended, but if a graduate earns only $3k a month after spending so much time and money, he is worse than a beer lady.

local grads are deluded
There are fresh grads who get $10k upon graduation, but they are so not local grads, but are Ivy League or Oxbridge grads. Local grads Dream on.
To SMU grad: local law grads, which you thought "obviously attract high pays" get an average of $3.5 to $3.8k only.
GIC do not employ local grads for key or profitable positions.
SMU grad getting $8k anywhere? Sure, after 10 years. Unless of course, they made that money by signing up to be insurance or property agent, which is what so many local grads do.
More than half of the local grads I know are jobless.

been eastward
And...btw,..rich people do not send their kids to local u, including SMU.
That is a well-known fact in Singapore for the past 100 years. If you didn't know that, you do not know enough rich people.
