Why send him on a wild goose chase?
All the O&G majors are retrenching like mad, the oil field service providers, engineering consultancies and construction yards are slumping horribly with project cancellations and delays everywhere, not to mention smaller players going belly up.
Where in the world is a newbie without any experience or relevant connection going to get a job as a O&G mechanical engineer for the next 2 years? Even if really can get a job in O&G, pay freeze and bonus reduction is everywhere (except for evergreens Exxon & Shell), which company are you aware of that is offering a "satisfying" remuneration package?
