Roles that I may find in Singapore

As a Singaporean, I've been pursuing my passion abroad with a Group of Eight University for three years already with another two more semesters before I graduate with a Bachelor of Science.
My Bachelor of Science is a full double major in Physics (undecided between a specialisation in quantum mechanics or astrophysics) and Mathematics with a specialisation in both applied and pure mathematics.
In the pipeline is a dual honours in Physics and Mathematics should I choose to read honours.
There are also a couple of economics units under my belt up to a final year units.
In terms of quantitative, analytical skills and thinking in the abstract that I've acquired, nothing needs to be further expounded.
I am reasonably proficient with Wolfram Mathematica to build mathematical and computational models in almost every areas from the physical science to biological system and by extension, areas of finance and economics.
In terms of an ideal role, I enjoy seeking solutions to highly complex system
and building abstract mathematical models to investigate anomalies; less focus on social management.

My deepest interest is working in the weapons and defence sector concerning long range missile defence system and have applied to Lockheed and Raytheon but the necessary condition of applicants being a national citizenship removed me from the equation of their decision making.
My other option is technical consultancy.
I've been given a ballpark estimate of the salary I could be receiving by friends working in the finance sector (higher than what most fresh grad are getting) but I do not see myself working in the finance sector.

Relative to me, this post has only one objective:

Remaining abroad for work is my primary goal but I must at least return to Singapore for reasons relating to persons, at least for a short while.
The intent is for me to be able to ascertain I will not find roles that fit my preferences. This would enable me to have my way.

Any meaningful and informed thoughts are appreciated.

Do you have any high tech patents to your name?

No I don't. I am completing my Bachelors degree soon. Finding any roles in any sector, sans the arts, in Singapore would not be an issue for me given my skills are highly transferable.
But job satisfaction is a very pertinent decisive factor for me.

Are you interested in working in the community sector. Such as an old folks home or nursing home?

solly ur eengrish too cheem me no unnerstand. join big big bank make big big bux n drive big big car b4 30 year old

sorry couldn't resist :)

you seem like a highly introspective and intelligent person. please do not join the finance sector. the world needs more smart people who are actually creating value, not warm-bodies parasiting on other peoples' assets and shifting money from one pot to the other in the guise of providing "professional services".

i'm speaking as someone who works in of these professional service, non-value-creating sectors.

there are more dullards inhabiting the finance sector than smart people. if you join, you'll be dragged down to a lower denominator.

good luck in finding a suitably stimulating job :)

The finance sector does not appeal to me because, in my observation, of the flamboyant culture.
But in the unfortunate circumstance that I would have to work in the finance sector, which area would see me utilising a high level of mathematics?
Data analytics, perhaps?

Having been abroad since having completed my national service and given that I may have to return to Singapore for a brief period, exploring my options and constructing a contingency plan is vital to me.
Most of my Aussie peers in my area of field proceed on to work as mathematical modellers, geophysicists, nuclear physicists, technical consultants and some, as astronomers. Such roles generally pay extremely well and tremendously fulfilling.
In the worst case scenario that I may have to return to Singapore and consequently search for work, are there any industries in Singapore that would provide a closest fit to my skills and preference?

I'd love to hear more.

You can become a teacher in a neighbourhood secondary school. They need good people like you. Ok?

You could consider working in R&D within our own defence sector, in DSO.

wake up.

you and your parents voted for the open legs mass immigration policy in SG.

you will struggle to find roles in SG as these roles are now mostly taken up by indians/chinese/pinoy FTs with lesser qualification that yourself - in fact whether they are qualified or not is another issue all together.

dont believe me, try coming back and experience it for yourself. good luck.

pls remember your experience 4yrs later
