How many people in Singapore at age 29 making 4K a mth again should be the big question?
I am pretty sure many citizens out there don't. So be real grateful that some company is willing to pay that amount when they can pay 2 non-grads ( lower than 4K ) to do this same job.

My point is....there are many other Masters holder and 1st class hons in Singapore as well not only yourself, Ronaldo.
But how many of they get a reasonable good job with 4K a mth fresh after Uni. Not many dude. Even my younger bro with a PHD also facing over-qualified situation in most interviews. Employers can easily employ a ( foreign talent at a much cheaper salary anytime ).
A high salary package comes with great responsibility too, bearing in mind. So if u are looking for more than 4K range....follow the profession u deem fit from the list above then. Best of luck.

Yes, usually higher pay package does come with greater responsibilities eg. partners of accounting firms and lawyers who can get sued their pants off if they make the slightest mistake and docs who face remorse of a lifetime if they accidentally kill their patients during operations.
There is no such thing as easy money man! Unless you are a genius trader - like this Soros guy.

Hello,
I realise that the data for General Physician from the 2006 and 2007 version differs by a lot. In 2006, it was more than 14K. In 2007, the basic is only 4K plus and the gross is about 6K. I don't think the salary will fluctuate so much within a year right? So which is the correct figure?
Also, is this General Physician first line non-specialist resident physicians in hospital or those General Practicetioners running their own private clinics? Or maybe General Physician refer to non-surgical specialist, like internal medicine?

Sea, sharp observation.
Unfortunately, I do not know the answer. I've double checked this year's data and they are all correct.
The MOM uses the SSOC 2005 job classification, which splits the Medical Doctor profession into 9 types: general physician, general surgeon, specialised surgeon, anaesthetist, psychiatrist, obstetrician & gynaecologist, paediatrician, "other specialised physicians", and "other medical doctors".
So I suppose "General Physician" refers to the common GPs we know.
As for the sudden drop in income, I can only hazard a guess: the survey previously used business income (clinics are run as businesses), but changed to use declared income (GPs draw a fixed pay from their own businesses).
Some people estimate GPs make around $10k/mth on average (yet another estimate ).

Business income means nett profit after or before deducting rental and clinic staff's pay?
Another question, since only specialised surgeons and general physicians are on the chart, does it mean the other 7 types of doctors are drawing less salary than the profession ranked 100? This is quite unlikely because I do not think the differences in the pay of the different types of doctors are so much and it is quite unlikely that other specialist doctors like paediatrician and gynaecologist earn less than 5K right?

Sea, I believe the survey uses only a subset of the SSOC jobs, which should explain why paediatricians and others do not feature in the top 100. But it is also possible that certain professions are subsumed into others, e.g. gynaecologist subsumed under specialised surgeon.
