Which Gov Agency to Join?
Hello!
I am graduating this year, undergraduate degree with honours - Magna Cum Laude. I'm interested in Analytics, but don't really know which agency would be good to apply to. Does anyone have any suggestions or comments? Thank you! |

DOS doesn't do analytics. At least not at the moment, nor at the foreseeable future.
Just go to career@gov and search for it. There are quite a number of openings from various ministries/sb that may suit you. |

Hello! Thank you for your replies, I realize from how I phrased it, it might have made me seem quite stupid, sorry about that.
I have done a few searches on Career@Gov already, before posting. What I am more curious about it which would be good to join in terms of.. I guess exposure and for more understanding of the agencies? For example, I know that A*STAR has more departments related to Analytics, but if say I join URA as an analyst, since their focus is not really in that area I don't think I will get to grow or advance fairly much? So I'm just curious, if there is anyone who would have experience in such areas who might be willing to share their opinions or thoughts? Thank you very much! |
The entire civil service is very keen in going into analytics. But not all of them know what they are doing... some dunno what it takes to set up an analytics unit, some dunno why they want to set up an analytic unit, and some dont have the budget to do so.
If you are really interested in analytics, go for the healthcare authorities (HSA, MOH, etc). They are more clear on what they want and have more data avaliable for them to play with. Analytics in the healthcare field is also gaining alot of attention in the analytics community, so i think there is alot of potential in terms of developing ur analytics skills. BUT healthcare authorities generally don't pay as well. If pay is a consideration, then just go to those with more budget. Anyway, y r u onli considering govt? The playing field is much bigger in the private sector for analytics. |
