How's working in maybank like?
Hi all ,
As per title, any folks currently working in may bank ?
I have about 2 yrs of experience within the area of compliance and recently I've been called for an interview with them for a Compliance exec role.
By asking around... i realized their office is in Ang mo kio instead of the one at collyer quay, very deep into the industrial place in a very beat-up looking building. Well, not that I mind provided they could pay reasonably well.
So, how is it like working there? I'm currently drawing 3.9 with under 2 yrs of relevant exp with another foreign bank in CBD. I tried asking around but it seems they r leaning towards a more bonus focused scheme (avg 3mths++ ?) with lower basic pay.
I'm not sure how 'low' can they get but in general the feedbacks i see from glassdoor aren't generally positive. Probably, i'm looking at a 13-15% jump, which i feel its quite reasonable... The thing is that.. i didn't indicate my current drawn salary in my CV..
Anyone have insights on how their pay structure are like? I'm not sure if i should make the journey down from the extreme west to amk just to let the HR make ridiculous lowball offer to me...
Thanks in adv!

I've friend working there. She told me Maybank offer salary quite comparable to local banks. Their bank is expanding and experience great performance last year. Heard their avg performer bonus received 4-5 mth. It's a bank that strongly valued their talents.

I'm from SPE side and only got 2.1 months last year though my performance was 1 level above average. Which department is your friend from?

I have worked in the banking industry all my career for 12+ years and would advise readers to take what is shared here with a large pinch of salt.
Although I never work in Maybank before, but I'm sure that if they can really pay 5 months on average every year somewhere someone in the industry would have told me before. Base on experience I find it hard to believe tht if Maybank really can pay that well somehow the whole industry nobody is interested in joining them.
Uness its sales role then of course bonus is really base on sales performance and doesn't matter which bank you are in. If we are talking about the ops or BO side where most of the jobs are in, then really hard to believe...

By execs you mean fresh deg grad jobs then for most back offce or support functions 2.5-3k is the norm while some othr more specialise mid office and front office ops support jobs are ~3.5k. Bonus highest I got was 2.5 months and lowest abt 1 month, so was really surprise to hear many here who say the can get min at least 4-5 months.

My best guess would be 4.2-4.5k. Honestly dun think you should go Maybank unless no choice, generally its not thought well by even the local 3 banks.

Thanks for your input. Their HR office is at amk.. deep into the industrial place.. seems very unaccessible via public transport.. oh well no harm going down taking a look.

Sorry to be hijacking this thread, can I check people who had interviewed at Maybank b4; is it common for the 1st meeting that the HR requires me to bring along my past academic transcripts, payslips and to fill up some application forms?
They called me dwn to discuss with regards to a experienced role (req. >2yrs, deg grad, non-sales or ops).
So what exactly do they want with that? Go through my application forms with me during the interview and then nego my salary?
What puzzles me is the process; i thought these sort of things with the HR would normally be at the 2nd interview. Whereas in the 1st interview it will be conducted by the hiring manager to deem whether the candidate has the necessary skill sets / fits the team or not.
