Easiest way to see it is, if your talent segment in your contract states consulting, you’re under consulting DTE and will graduate to S&C. Basically consulting development analyst have “consulting” as their talent segment in their contract. This can also been seen in your workday, your job family is consulting. Business and integration analyst won’t be changed to consulting development analyst cos the talent segment is totally different. So please don’t mix up and spread wrong info. I get it there’s a few who managed to switch DTE hence you may see them at first being business and integration analyst but managed to switch to consulting and hence they got the title as consulting Development analyst. But making this switch requires connections so not everyone can easily make the switch.
Hey, like I said things do change pretty fast for the program even within a year, if you're a senior analyst i gather you've been in one year already! But you can just do a quick check on WD for people under BA pod and you can see that what used to be mostly biz and integration arch analysts is now consulting development analysts. There was indeed a change in title done recently for new hires.

But just to clear the misconception ah, business and integration analyst are not being changed to consulting development analyst. Consulting development analyst are titles for analysts under consulting track, they are mainly hired to do consulting.

Background of myself is that I wasn’t offered consulting when I applied for Accenture, so I just took the business and integration offer and I worked in this role for one year. I’m very fortunate to met one of the consulting lead in my project and she helped to refer me to consulting track lead. So I had to justify my reason of wanting to switch to consulting and my skills, have to interview. So I managed to switch from my previous business and integration analyst to consulting development analyst and now belong to consulting track. But it’s not easy as you really need strong network and the consulting lead need to be willing to take you in. I have a few peers who tried but failed and remain in their current tech analyst.

But tbh even till now I’m still offered roles such as developer and business analyst in projects, although I switch to consulting but seem to have a difference as compared to those consulting analyst who were hired in directly into the consulting track without needing a switch. They tend to be the ones filling the consulting roles in projects. Not sure how the company segregates actually backend internally. Even when I tried applying for strategy roles in projects, I don’t even get a chance to be interviewed while my friends who were originally consulting development analyst right from the start get to interview. So really think twice if it’s worth the effort to make the switch from tech to consulting cos yes now I get the title but I’m not getting the roles, I’m doing the same tech roles. But I know one or two cases who came in as consulting development analyst but realise they enjoyed the tech roles more so they switch to business and integration analyst. I would say switch from consulting to business and integration is much easier as compared to switch from business and integration to consulting.

If you really want consulting analyst position, whole process is easier if get the consulting offer right from the start.. if you want to make the switch feel free to let me know I’ll see if can help you ah. But don’t expect too much cos you still end up with the tech roles, they really keep the consulting roles for those who were hired directly for consulting
So let's say for the batch of tappers that onboarded in jun/jul this year, what is the proportion of consulting development analysts to business and integration analysts?

Thanks for sharing. What kind of consulting work were you expecting? Cos from my experience those assigned as consulting development analyst majority are doing change management

Every batch they intake, it’s only around 10 consulting development analysts. For myself in July this year, my batch only had 6 consulting development analyst.

In tech projects or system implementation projects which is basically all projects in the tech space, they need change management in the project. That’s why tech analysts in such projects only see consulting analysts doing change management. But consulting in S&C comprises 6 sub sections (can see on website), change management is one of them. Consulting analysts by default should be in consulting or strategy focus projects, but cos tech/implementation projects need them so they will be park there. You’ll realised on these kind of projects, the consulting people are usually there for a while only, typically 3-6 months or max a year while the tech people will be there for 1-2 years or more. This is good and not so good for consulting analysts lah, cos they also want to be in consulting or strategy focus projects mah where there’s more consulting and strategy people, but they also need to help with tech projects for a few months, good is consulting people typically hard to be bench cos they need to be in majority of the projects. They can also take on BA or developer roles too if they want and have the skills. Usually, consulting analysts to senior analyst or new consultant will be mostly placed in the tech projects for change management, higher level with more experience got more opp to choose and pick. Same for tech and operations functions too. But regardless, the best is still be chargeable and not bench lah.

The proportion really quite a big difference, simplify is ratio of 1:10. They after all need a lot of tech analyst (aka business and integration arch/delivery analyst) cos of the implementation projects. Even in projects, the business and integration analysts take up the biggest number, consulting analyst in projects are a relatively small team of usually 2-8. If it’s consulting or strategy projects then the majority will be strategy people or consulting people, but such projects are smaller in scale also since it’s mainly S&C people.
