They can strongly request for your roll-off if they seriously don't like you, what do you say? But yeah, not that they have a say, but rather, their input is strongly regarded.
But I'd say they can negatively impact your promotion more than positively impact it. You rarely get clients that will provide inputs for you that translate to you being ready for next level promotion anyway. I mean, it's not as if they actually knew what it takes for you to get promoted to next level, right? Normally, that's your PL's job to translate whatever CAI you have to a promotion story lol.
Please don't confuse client's input with client account input/feedback. These are 2 different input.
