Imo, CDO is the one generating the hard work / essentially the ones "earning" the revenue from the clients.

Implementation is now a big part of consulting - even strat houses (i.e. MBB) are now developing capabilities and hiring talents in that area.

MNCs want the full suite now.

Not going to happen. Implementation provides the bulk of revenue but it is labour-heavy work, margins are low. In a ACN system implementation project there can be as many as 150-200 offshored indians working on a SG project.

They can be generating the "hard work", but value in the market is just not there.

Even in MBB, your implementation practice is always less prestigious. In B-school, the choice for most would be McK generalist > BCG or Bain generalist > 2nd tier generalist > everything else in between > McK implementation. That would tell you where they stand.

MBB needs implementation to gain steady, consistent revenue. Strat is just too volatile - short projects with a lot of BD efforts required. But will implementation be as prestigious? probably not.

The only consulting firms with no private u fresh grads are MBB. Then again in those firms, first year associates from NUS/SMU/NTU are also minuscule cuz majority in the Singa office are from target b-schools like Wharton.
