Hi, I think it really depends on your client. Culture wise for accenture depends heavily on client's side. Btw, how much were you offered for your role in accenture? You have experience right?

is it normal to work on things you did not expect to do? for example, you were told during interview to work on some stuff but realised at work, you are given different project task

yes. remember you are working in project teams at accenture and the things you do will be dependent on what the client wants accenture to do for them. if you feel that your work isnt aligned with your interests then you can request for roll-off. bear in mind your next project may not have the things you are interested in either.
accenture is a professional services firm and not a standard corporation where there are departments of people who does business-as-usual stuff. know the difference by reading up online. alter your expectations accordingly.
