One poor performing "bonus" can easily be topped up with another without affecting the whole system.
How do you derive the 5 months for a normal performer? Civil service mid-year bonus last year was 0.5 month. Year-end AVC was 0.65 and 13th month is 1 month. Performance bonus would have to be 2.85 to get 5 months in total. This seems too high for an average performer in civil service.

From what I read online it sounds like unless you can make management, the max one can go is 11-12k as a senior lecturer in ITE. In western world companies recognize & pay for deep specialization & knowledge, only singapore has this backward mentality that higher pay must always play management politics.

This is true but only to a certain extent. If you are talking about deep specialisation and knowledge in education, I'm not sure ITE lecturers qualify. Full professors in local universities can earn $20k.

If you're talking about SLT (Senior Lecturer). The ceiling cap is at $7.6K. Some people retired as LT and not even SLT. Last 1 to 2 years, I've seen people promoting to MLT (Master Lecturers). Not too sure what are their pay scales though but from my understanding, MLTs are very rare. Each school probably has at most 1 only. So if there're 4 schools in a college, you'll have at most not more than 4 MLTs.

Nobody can really answer your question. In the first place, what do you intend to teach? Business courses in the school of business? Or how about Life skills?

Regardless, the current situation is pretty bleak as the headcount has frozen across the board in some of the schools within the college primarily due to the management expecting the shrinkage of students enrollment which is attributable to the low birth rate. It's hitting ITE as well and not only secondary schools if you've seen the news. So in some schools, they're probably over-staffed with headcount frozen.

Unless you're teaching some niche courses in some schools which are understaffed, then perhaps you might get a shot at an interview.

Already consider not bad lah. If I can max out at 12k close to retirement, not much to complain anyway. Cannot always compare with places like banking where 5 figure pay is common after a few years, teaching in public sector need something more than just compare pay all the time.

ppl are just complain for fun. turnover for teaching staff is much lower in ite compared to primary/secondary meaning their pay is either at market or higher than market already.

If look objectively I find ITE pay high compared to many other similar jobs even among top MNC. A lot of complainers here seem to think that anything below 300k is not worthy of their time. Seriously not anyone can be hedge fund trader making big bucks, stop dreaming. Besides the pay also need to consider job security, very low workload, short working hours and no sales kpi to meet every month.

Default Work as a Lecturer

Seems most of the discussion revolves around the pay. I have no teaching experience, only industry experience as a retail manager. Could the existing lecturers share a little on the job expectations? For e.g., I suppose the lecturer hv to come up with lesson plan?
