First job

Hi guys, apparently i'm new here and i was hoping that i could get some POVs from here. I'm currently a diploma holder in engineering (electrical, computer & communications) and had 2 job offers but can't really decide.

Job A (engineering related)
-2.5k + 120 transport allowance
-Project based
-Irregular working hours mostly
-Will be able to develop expert knowledge in the train subsystems and will also be actively involved in field work both local and overseas, such as train testing,*quality control supervision works, and port-to-depot deliveries.

Job B (banking related)
-2k + 300 allowance
-Fixed working hours
-Handle high volume of over-the-counter transactions including cash deposits and withdrawals in an efficient and accurate manner
-Assist in customers’ enquiries and ensure service delivery standards are met in achieving total customer satisfaction
-Prospect and introduce customers to the Bank’s products and services
-Perform all banking activities in accordance to internal and external regulatory requirements

Both i suppose have good prospects and good pay as well but only thing is the worklife balance for each of it.

In my opinion, I would choose Job A, as it is related to my diploma and allow me to practice what I am knowledgeable to a certain extend. It will give me opportunities to go overseas and opportunities to practice some leadership via supervision work. Since I am still young, irregular working hours is not a problem, work life balance is not in my dictionary. And I want to strive the hardest to make it to the top early.

You can choose job A too. if you are interested in banking services.

I see. But if looking at the long run, am i right to say that job A is more stable than job B? Apparently what is stopping me from choosing job A is cause of the hours. And reason being is that i spent my NS in shift work style so i was hoping that i wouldn't have to go back to a shift type kind of work life too.

By the way, to make it more detail on the job positions, job A is basically a Engineering Officer(Rolling Stock) roll and as for job B, is Customer Service Executive (Bank Teller) And would appreciate the POVs to come!

More job prospects for job A. Even O level qualification can take up job B but not job A. If you take up job b, it doesnt look good on ur resume next time u want to switch back to engineering job.

from what you post, I can see you are more interested in job B then job A. as this is only your first job, I suggest you go for something you prefer then oblige to. there is always no guarantee that you are going to stick to your first job forever. you are young, should try all, experience more and decide later.
