Big4
Hi
Never worked in big4 before.... can anyone orientate me?
Ranking order: Director - Associate Director - Junior Partner - Partner?
my understanding promotion is very dependent on the $$ brought in by the staff. for advisory / consulting side, how big is each team? are the targets "reasonable/manageable"?
Salary scale wise? What would the Director generally start with? is it low base and rest is OTE or balance?
Thanks in adv

Technically all senior mgt levels are full partners (got 6 grades of partner level iirc)
All those fancy titles like director, jr partner etc are just low to mid level managers.

Manager - Senior Manager - Associate Director - Director - Partner
Each grade has multiple years, eg manager is 4 years (M1, M2, M3, M4), then you get promoted to SM

Your friend prob too junior to know the full structure or trying to big cannon you. For most ppl a Director / jr partner is the highest person they ever see, so they confuse between title and actual rank.
KPMG has like 2500+ Directors and maybe 1000+ junior partners worldwide, how can there be so many senior management?

The big4 senior mgt follow roughly same format - there is a global leadership team representing key business lines and reps from major continent regions and maybe add in the country chairmans of major market. All of them are senior partners.
All those directors/partners and whatever you always see hanging around in the SG office are mainly just deparment or local branch / business managers.
