Please advise me...

Probably not the best/correct section to post this.

Always wanted to work in the accounting line since secondary school, but then I studied an IT diploma instead due to poor O levels results.

Now that I have ORD-ed, I thought of getting some jobs related to accounting/audit but it appears that nearly all need at least some certification/diploma/nitec in accountancy and also need at least some form of experience in the line. Kind of sad because I don't meet the criteria at all.

Thought of pursuing an accountancy degree but then my GPA also not very good. Probably UniSIM part time course would be my choice...

But then if I study the part time accountancy in UniSIM, at the same time would it be better if I am working in the accounting line rather than IT line for example?

:(

If you have an interest in accounts/audit, you can try small firms or working on a temporary assignment in accounts. It helps you to gain enough knowledge to undertake a degree/bigger job profile.

SIM/Kaplan offer an extensive business degrees which would definitely help you in securing a better job in future. In an audit line, the firm generally wants people with passion, attitude and ability to survive long hours. To be practical, an accounts assistant is less stress but usually of a lesser pay scale than an audit assistant.

Think ahead, do you want to continue studying? Have you set your priorities and goals?

Yes, I want to continue studying...

But now I have taken an offer for an IT job...

Hmm...But I still do hope one day can work in accounting line

More details on IT audit

Hi,
IT auditors look into IT systems and determine if these are working as expected or serving the business needs. IT audit is very important for companies such as SIA, PSA, etc, where there are multiple IT systems spanning vendor management, HR, etc.
Check out some books in library for "IT audit", CISA, etc.
Check this out as well.

Good luck to you
