Job Advice Needed!
I really need some advice. Currently I am employed, but I have been trying to look for job as I found that I have not much “use” in this current company. And also I wanted to learn more things.
Recently I got a job offer from a SME. The salary and the benefits are not as attractive as the current company.
Current Company Salary and Benefits:
• Salary is around $3600
• 13th month bonus
• 2 to 3 months AWS
• 18 days of Annual Leave, 2 day no MC leave, 2 days Parents Sick Leave
• Medical Benefit (Only need to pay $5 per visit)
• Dental Benefit ($100/ year)
• $600 flexi benefits per year
Job Offers:
• Salary offer is $3500
• 13th month bonus
• 0.7 month AWS
• 14 days of Annual Leave
• Medical Benefits (Can only claim $20 per visit)
• No Dental Benefits
• Required to go overseas, with daily allowance of USD$100. Accommodation and transportation are provided. However not sure how often am I required to go overseas.
So should I take up this job offer???
Thanks in advance for the advice.

I wouldn't take up the offer. The annual package is much lower. Leave and other benefits are worse off. From your current package, you seem to be in the public sector. Why would you want to leave for an SME. You may want to continue your job search. Or ask for a transfer within the same organisation.

What is the concern? Pay or experience? Is gaining more experience important, sme is a good place , as you will need to cover a lot of duties. But if is pay, then no point taking the job offers.

if you are still early on in your career, stick on MNCs at best. Public sector maybe if worth it. SMEs unless there are very strong reasons, don't go there early on in your career.

From what I am reading, you yourself are not sure what you want. Here's why. You started off by saying that in the present company you are not "useful" to the company. Then you went and compare only the "financial" aspects of this present company and the SME.
I thought the important criterion should have been how the SME can best match your skill set such that you can contribute meaningfully. The pay and other benefits are important too but they should not cloud your main consideration- which should be your satisfaction in being able to contribute, career progression, training and exposure.
I come across many such individuals - they dont really know what they want so they hop from one company to the next aimlessly.

I agree! Money talks. You sound more like an employer than an employee. I dont think they hop aimlessly, of course they aim for better pay and benefits.
