Is it better to be a full time teacher or FAJT? I heard full time teacher has a lot of other committee/cca duties and projects that distract you from T&L.

Pros of being an FAJT:
- No other responsibilities besides teaching.
- working hour is 7.30am-1.30pm
- No committee, no cca, no after school meetings and workshops

Cons:
- Unstable income. No income for June n December, other school holidays and days that the school doesn’t need you eg. Psle marking days
- School can give you one-day notice to ask you to leave when they have enough headcount.
- You have to find other schools for FAJT position every time you are not needed in your current school.

I'm a full time JC teacher who teaches tuition on the side.

As with most careers, you need to be able to manage your workload and delegate certain tasks to the students where possible. I find that for most JC students, they are competent to do self-marking for the weekly tutorials assigned to them and teacher-based marking is only really necessary for graded assignments. Likewise for CCA mgmt, the CCA student exco is capable of getting most of the routine work done, and we teachers are mostly there to play a leadership role to provide oversight while assisting with their administrative requirements (for events, open house, etc).

Has anyone recently applied to become an FAJT in the REMS 2.0 portal? How long does the Processing usually take?
