how much one needs minimum to have a luxurious life in singapore?
I am going to comment based on the word luxurious. I am sorry to say that at 6k, you will NOT get the luxurious life.

The luxe life would be defined as driving a BMW/Lexus, staying in an orchard road condo, flying to/fro home country once a month, weekly crawl at Clarke quay (watering hole)

There's a lot of misinformation here, but I don't think 6000 is enough to live a good life

The avg household income is 7870 per month, so your salary will actually be slightly below the household average

If you want to stay in a condo, rent alone will cost at least 5000. You probably need to be making at least 15k a month to be living a middle class lifestyle

In Singapore, if you want to be seen as successful and want to live in luxury, you need to stay in a condo. You will awe your friends, colleagues and relatives. Don't rent a HDB flat, not worth it as you will not be seen as a success. Also no privacy.

You can still rent a condo, the whole unit, where you can live in privacy, cook, wash your clothngs, enjoy the swimming pool, gym, tennis court, club house, etc. You can invite your friends and colleagues to the condo and they will be impressed.

If you increase your budget a bit higher to $2,500 per month, you can rent a nice condo in Woodlands, walking distance to the Woodlands MRT station. Go to propertyguru and you can find. There are a few condo developments around the Rosewood area in Woodlands. You can travel around by MRT.

it really just depends on your definition of "good life". you will have to define it clearly here, if not the opinions given will be very subjective.

If by $6000 u mean ur combined family income ?? If it's yes then i would say it would be enough to survive out here. u won't be saving a lot. When u are couple u would need at least a master bedroom for living in my opinion and a cheap (lower end HDB) one would cost u around $800 per month. Food wise on average be prepared to pay $ 3.50 per meal (2 veggies , 1 meat item at a hawker stall). If u plan on getting a car, an average Japanese car would cost around $1200 - $2000 to maintain per month. These are the survival mode figures. Since u said good life , it's a bit too broad to comment. In any case 6K might seem quite a bit when u first get here ,trust me it's really not. specially when u evolve into the way of living here. My advise to u is get ur spouse employed here as well (it's not easy now).

luxurious? do you mean Paris Hilton luxurious or a just comfortable lifestyle?

you can rent a small studio condo in the outskirts - I see about 2000 listings for condo rental below $1500. you need to spend another $1500 on your daily needs and entertainment, which leaves you to save the remaining 50%.

this will be my idea of a comfortable lifestyle.

S$6,000 a month pay means S$5,000 take home after deducting CPF contribution. You will not be poor with this monthly take home pay for 2 person but you will not have much left for savings.

Basic Expenses incl:
1. Housing rent/Utilities
2. Food/Entertainment
3. Public Transport or Car/Maintenance/Road Tax/Insurance
4. Insurance
5. Medical/Dental
6. Clothes/Shoes/other grooming expenses eg. hair treatments/facial/hair styling
7. Tax
8. Household items

Most Singaporeans with household income of five figure sum are not living the luxurious life. People living a luxurious life are able to do so from investment income/inheritance/accumulated wealth.

Not many can eat at a hawker stall. Most have to eat at food courts where a simple meal cost $5 to $6 excluding drink. A drink cost $1.50 to $2+

We need 3 meals a day and multiply by 2 for 2 person. Multiply that with 30 for a month. That is quite a lot. Moreover, this is based on eating at foodcourt.

In Singapore, eating is a favourite pastime and social activity. Most weekends, we see long queues outside restaurants. Eating at restaurants cost many times more than eating at foodcourts and it's really not a luxury.
