Graduate job market

Fellow graduating frens from NUS/NTU engineering, how has your job search been so far? Anyone got offers even before this week's job fair?

Can sense the vibes of the improving economy for the recent times seems like there's more jobs recently.

Sadly, I have come from an engineering outside mech/electrical/chem/civil/computer, where the "traditional" hires are centered upon.

Seems like the bio/material/environment engineering clusters, where I come from has less jobs opportunities. Our cohort is smaller yes, also over specialized. Some of us has to focus on research and govt jobs, where they look ever more heavily on our CAP. Private sector career are harder to come by for our type of engineering..

Shall try again on Friday

As long you get FCH or at least second upper, you will get careers.

Other categories, too bad just go SME, find a job. You will not really make it.

It is widely known that the more 'niche' engineering degrees like materials and environmental are not well-like by employers. Even generic engineering companies shun them. Their courses are an amalgamation of chem/bio/physics/math. Its too wide but not in depth enough. And it specialises in things that most companies to do not require.

Material - Semiconductor
Environment - PUB

Period.

Just keep improving your resume and keep trying. I graduated in June and was jobless until December before finding my job. I sent over 100 plus resume before even getting a reply
