MINDEF DXO - Executive (NS Relations & Engagement)
Hello everyone. I am going to graduate from one of the local uni and have applied for the role of DXO Executive (NS Relations & Engagement).
I was wondering if anyone currently holding the position can share more about the actual job scope itself? Also, what would be the salary be like (Female, 2nd upper from local uni)? Thanks ! |
the actual job scope is totally different from what is posted on the Mindef website / classifieds.

Lousy experience

Basically, they will only show you the actual job scope perhaps 10 min before the interview; you will be asked to do a written assessment that takes 1 hr and after that you will be shown the contract with the job scope and the salary package. This was the only interview that I had been shown the job scope after passing the interview instead of showing you the actual job scope before they commerce of the psychometric test. It is troublesome and time wasting in the sense that you will only discover the job scope is nowhere near what has been stated on the website and eventually rejecting the offer. My experience; the contract shown to me was one with a different job title, job scope, and it was obvious that they added in some other 'extra job scope' at the last few lines with just a few words without clear descriptions. When I asked them the details of these additional job scope, I then realized that they were simply redundant and nth close to what you will expect. One can simply tell that the layout of the written job description is not professionally done; just like a piece of blank paper and they just simply dump in random work. In my opinion, those who feel that they are unwilling to just forfeit this job opportunity after so much efforts would simply agree with the job scope. However, those who are looking for values and skills that could be transferred elsewhere in future careers would definitely reject. The interview is simple, just agree to the contract and highly likely you will be in. |
Surprised that they used a 'bait-and-switch' tactic in the recruitment process. The position isn't in research &development, sounds more like a marcom role. Don't know why they are so secretive about the actual job requirements and a huge waste of the applicant's time.

If you are looking for 'values and skills' that can be transferable, please don't be stupid to go to SAF, dxo or uniformed it doesn't matter, SAF skills are neither transferable nor valuable. You enter SAF, you stay there for the rest of your life. Don't hope to get another job after that, SAF is so slack, hordes of NSF that do the job for you. You will get a culture shock if you change jobs and enter the real working world. That is if anyone is willing to hire you with SAF listed as experience. You'd be better off applying as a fresh grad than putting that in your resume.

If you really want to try out HR, try working in pte sector first. I agree with the rest that the job description shown to u, will NOT be the job that you will be doing. If u r offered this job n accepted it, depending on where u are posted to, pls be prepared for extra stuffs that will b arrowed to u. Pros of this job is high pay n stability. Nt suitable for those ppl who wants to chiong or fresh grad. imo fresh grad shld see the world first b4 coming in...
