Do you mean AmL only or also include other area of compliance?

Mind sharing the reason why? AML roles appear to continue to be in demand, minus those that can be offshored such as transaction monitoring, KYC, etc

high demand yes, but after u hit associate level you will find yourself stuck with useless skillsets to jump anywhere else.

Is it a bad idea to stick it out in the AML field then? Climb the ropes and get into mid level mgmt / TL role at VP level (12-15k p.m) or D (20k and up)

There is a very high chance you won't make it to VP / ED level. These positions require you to lead more than just the AML function.

What more other than the AML function? What does a VP / ED typically oversee?

12 to 15k can lead a small team already. Just that you don know which company.

Agree, where I’m at, 12-15k can be solo contributor with no direct reports below

AML VP usually oversees the Sales function and sometimes governs what decisions Executive Office can make (e.g. hiring which CEO or CFO etc.).

You're absolutely ****ing clueless. There are plenty of AVP-VP team lead roles in banking that are purely AML.

This dude is so ****ing clueless holy ****. AML VPs DO NOT OVERSEE SALES FUNCTIONS OR GIVE INPUT TO C-SUITE HIRING. Get off the forums kid.

Currently drawing 6-6.5k p.m. with 3 years of experience in aml/kyc. Considered OK? Where does that stand against the market/peers? Thank you.

Depends on what bank you're in. Local banks - yes good. US banks - no, lower than market.

Thanks for sharing.. I’m with you that it’s higher than local banks. Local maybe start off anywhere from 3 - 3.5k and assuming slight annual increment plus maybe 1 promotion, it would land around 4.5-5k.

For US banks, why do you say that 6-6.5k is below market? How much would a US bank typically? How about European banks?

Unregistered 26-11-2022 11:28 AM

26 years old grad last year, currently 1 year 3 months of kyc experience under my belt, drawing 5.3k per month considered ok?

3 YOE in a US bank should land you in a Associate role, ready to move to small team lead position. Starting salary for US banks for AML/KYC is about 5k, so you can expect about 7-8k with 3 YOE.

European banks pay slightly lower, but with better WLB.

Is 7 to 8K with 3 YOE a norm in US banks? How many months bonus?

not surprising... based on what i know, starting salary for 0 YOE is already ~6k. 5% increment for first 2 years and 15% increment on promotion year gets you around 7.6k already.

Seeking input from folks who have done kyc in both PB and C&IB. Which one do you prefer and why?
