Cause even in bred local Singaporean not all is cleared for cat 1.
So yep. New citizen only mean Singapore ic or passport. But in the actual system is still not eligible.

The way i see it is just sharing of opinion. No fake news here.
Some do well in ST some don't. If you don't do well then go and find another job.
If you do well in ST, then congratulations, you can continue to stay. Every company has a different culture, either you fit or you don't. No right or wrong.

How long will the background check at ST take? Applied recently and they seem to be moving forward with my application after the interview....

You mean security clearance is it?
That one is not determined by ST. ST is just applying on behalf for you.
How long it takes is not up to ST

I think usually will take about 2-3 weeks before the new hire starts work.
For defence related divisions I'm not sure if there is any deviations.
