Or I let you choose between two NON PET
A. Friendly, team player, positive, reliable
B. Cold, keep to himself, take credit for his own work, expert in domain but unwilling to share.
This is also why those get promoted are the same useless one.
People who are independent, smart and capable usually are not promoted.
Yet everytime I see the new people who join.
All pretend hardworking... But everyone know the one who are experienced will perform at 10% effort most of the time until the boss ask for something then it's 110%.
It's conservation energy.
All the newbie all work when the boss don't call for it. All work daily 100% until exhausted. The moment boss ask for something. They all claim overworked. Cause everyday give 100%.
Then fight with seniors.
Seen it so often.
Learn the ropes la. Be lazy. Just conserve your energy. Choose your war. Win some battle. Lose some.
No point burning yourself out.
I know how to climb the career. I'm good.
It's too bad most people don't learn this in school.

If I give you a magic wand now and ask you to promote someone who is under you and you can ONLY choose one.
Who will you pick?
The one who you have bonded and have personally work with?
Or some newbie who is always sitting at his cubicle "working" but nobody know what.
It's normal for you to ALSO pick the person you familiar with.
And your OTHER staff will say you choose your PET
There is just NO WAY TO ESCAPE this harsh reality.
I rather be the pet or the one who choose the pet.
Then to be a disposal garbage.
You choose your own path.

It says a lot to keep promoting a pet who kept screwing up because act hero don't listen to his technical teams.
