Hard to rejoin ex-company?
Is it true that some companies do not welcome applicants who have previously worked with them before and left, and would reject their applications for future opportunities?
Do HR check and reject an applicant because he/she was an ex-employee? |
yes its true. I know a Japanese bank which does not take ex-employees. HR deliberately screens out ex-employee applicants and job agencies will not recommend you to them if you were previously from there. Only way back is if you know a direct hiring manager who requests to interview you specifically to have a chance of going back.

But in government sector, its possible to go back to your ex-company(ministry or statboard in this case) because I have witnessed it personally before. |
Few years ago, I resigned from a GLC after being assigned to a bad project that was messed up by the previous team, which disbanded and refused to continue working on it.
Initially I politely requested for a project transfer within 2 weeks but the manager played delaying tactics and dragged for 6 months without giving any answer. Frustrated, I resigned after 8 months of service before the project was supposed to finish, knowing nothing was going to change, and fully served my 1 month notice period. However, the manager wasn't pleased I didn't hang on to finish the project. Under such circumstances, would I be blacklisted by HR from future job opportunities with the company? Recently see some suitable job opportunities by the ex-company and keen to apply. |
